These bacon avocado smash burgers are juicy, crispy-edged, and loaded with flavor. The patties are seasoned and smashed thin in bacon grease, then stacked with melty cheese, jalapeño-onion sauté, avocado, and crispy bacon for the ultimate burger night.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 recommended
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder with parsley
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices bacon
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • 2 tbsp diced jalapeños
  • 4 slices cheese American, cheddar, or preferred
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce and tomato slices
  • Optional: mayo ketchup, mustard, or preferred sauces

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef with onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Divide into 4 equal balls.
  • Cook bacon in a skillet until crisp. Remove and set aside. Reserve bacon grease.
  • In the same pan, sauté diced onions and jalapeños in the bacon grease until softened. Set aside.
  • Smash patties: Place each meatball between two pieces of parchment paper and press flat.
  • Cook smashed patties in bacon grease over medium-high heat, 2–3 minutes per side, until crispy and cooked through. Add cheese on top and let melt.
  • Toast buns if desired.
  • Assemble burgers: Bottom bun → lettuce → tomato → smashed patty with cheese → sautéed jalapeño/onion mix → avocado slices → bacon → top bun.
  • Serve hot with fries, chips, or pickles.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, brush buns with melted butter and toast.
  • Swap avocado with guacamole for a creamy twist.
  • Make it spicy with pepper jack cheese or hot sauce.
